OROPHILE

Travel Second Opinion — the human layer for AI travel plans

Can a real person check my ChatGPT travel plan?

Yes. Orophile Journeys offers a Travel Second Opinion for AI-made travel plans. Founder Ahmet Can Yeşildağ, a hotelier with more than thirty years of hospitality experience, reviews your ChatGPT or other AI itinerary with you on a live video call before you book. It is fee-only: no bookings, no commissions. The Travel Advisory Hour costs CA$75 + HST.

What AI travel plans get right, and where they slip

AI tools are good at a first draft. In a few minutes they can map a route, suggest a sensible order of cities, list hotels in the right neighbourhoods and remind you of things you had not thought about. I use them myself, and I would not tell anyone to stop.

Where they slip is the gap between what is published and what happens on the ground. A plan is built from descriptions, photos and reviews, and those are written to sell. The model cannot stand in the lobby, walk the route with luggage or read the conditions attached to the rate you are about to pay. Days get packed because every stop looks reasonable on its own. Opening seasons, renovation work and local holidays can be out of date.

None of that makes the plan wrong. It makes it unchecked. Orophile Journeys is the human layer between the AI plan and the moment you pay: one person, with more than thirty years inside hotels, reading it the way an operator would.

What I check

  • Room category against the photos. The pictures usually show the best rooms. I check which category you are actually booking, and what that usually means for size, view and floor.
  • Real walking and transfer times. Map distances are not door-to-door times. I look at the hour you travel, luggage, check-in and check-out, and the last stretch on foot.
  • Pacing. Whether each day leaves room to eat, rest and absorb the place, or whether the plan quietly assumes you never get tired.
  • Booking conditions and cancellation. Prepaid or flexible, the real cancellation deadline, and what changes if your dates move.
  • Rate parity and inclusions. Whether the same room is offered on better terms elsewhere, and what is actually included: breakfast, taxes, transfers.
  • Resort and local fees. Charges that appear at check-in or on departure rather than in the headline price.
  • Seasonality. What is closed, crowded, or simply different at your dates.

How it works

  1. Book the Free Introduction. Twenty minutes on video, free. We scope the decision you need to make. I do not give hotel or itinerary advice in this call; it is there to see whether an hour with me is the right next step.
  2. Send your plan. Book the Travel Advisory Hour and send the AI plan, your dates, who is travelling and the bookings you are considering.
  3. We go through it live. Sixty minutes, face to face on video. You leave knowing what to keep, what to change and what to verify before you pay. You decide, and you book directly.

What it costs

  • Free Introduction: 20 minutes, video, free.
  • Travel Advisory Hour: CA$75 + HST. If the hour gives you nothing usable, the fee is returned.
  • Journey Planning Week: CA$250 + HST per journey, for a fuller written review over seven calendar days. If you start with the Advisory Hour, its fee is credited and the upgrade is CA$175 + HST. Details are on the Journey Planning Week page.

Prices are in Canadian dollars; 13% HST is added.

What I don't do

Orophile Journeys is fee-only. I make no bookings, take no commissions and organise no tours, and I cannot guarantee a lower price, an upgrade or perks. Medical, accessibility, legal, immigration and safety questions go to qualified specialists. Travel advice is not treatment. You can read more on how I work.

Who it's for

This is for travellers who have done the research, often with AI help, and want a second pair of experienced eyes before committing real money. It suits a trip that matters: a milestone, a first visit to a region, a family journey with several moving parts, or a plan that simply feels too full. If you would rather keep exploring on your own first, owj.life, our companion AI guide, is a good place to start.

Free self-check: seven questions to ask your AI travel plan

  1. Does each hotel name the exact room category, and do the photos you are relying on show that category?
  2. Have you checked door-to-door times for the actual day and hour, including luggage, check-in and the last stretch on foot?
  3. Is there at least one unplanned half-day for every three or four travel days?
  4. For each booking, is the rate prepaid or flexible, and what is the exact cancellation deadline?
  5. Does the price you compared include taxes, breakfast and any resort or local fees?
  6. Is anything in the plan seasonal: closed, crowded or different on your dates?
  7. Which facts did the AI state that you have not yet confirmed on the supplier's own website?

If any answer is "I don't know", that is the question worth bringing to a second opinion.

Questions people ask

Is this a travel agent?

No. Orophile Journeys is a fee-only Travel Second Opinion. I do not make bookings, earn commissions or organise tours. You pay for my time and judgement, then decide and book directly with the suppliers you choose. That independence is the point: I have no reason to steer you towards any hotel, airline or operator.

Why not just ask the AI again?

Asking again gives you another version from the same kind of source. AI tools are useful for drafts, but they cannot always see current room configurations, real transfer conditions or the fine print attached to your rate. A second opinion from someone with more than thirty years of hospitality experience adds operating judgement the model does not have.

Do you work with people outside Canada?

Yes. I am based in Oakville, Ontario, and I work online with travellers anywhere through live video. Sessions are available in English and Turkish. Prices are shown in Canadian dollars, and the booking page shows available times in your own time zone, so you can choose an hour that suits you.

What do I need to send?

Send the plan as the AI gave it to you; a copy and paste or a screenshot is fine. Add your travel dates, who is travelling, a rough budget and links to the hotels or tours you are considering, and tell me which bookings are already made. No medical or confidential information is needed.

How is this different from an automated itinerary checker?

An automated checker is another layer of software reading the same online information. Orophile Journeys is a person: you talk with me face to face on live video, ask follow-up questions and get judgement from more than thirty years of hospitality experience. I check what a hotelier knows to check, and I tell you plainly what I cannot verify.

What if the hour doesn't help?

If the Travel Advisory Hour gives you nothing usable, the fee is returned. I would rather say that plainly than have you pay for an hour that did not help. If it does help and you want more, the CA$75 is credited toward a Journey Planning Week, so the upgrade costs CA$175 + HST.
