Independent Journey Advisory · Complimentary Decision Checklist

Before You Book

Seven questions worth asking before you commit to a journey.

A practical, independent pre-commitment check for a journey you are already considering—including a hotel, retreat, tour package or AI-built itinerary.

The purpose is choice confidence—not finding more destinations. Use these questions to test fit, flow, friction, expectation, context, value, risk and workability. A strong option is not necessarily the right option for you.

Seven questions to test journey fit

01

Whose priorities is this journey really serving?

List every traveller’s non-negotiables, energy levels, access needs and intended outcome. Which preference is being silently sacrificed?

Check: If the trip looks impressive but does not match the travellers, its quality on paper may be irrelevant.

02

Does the journey flow work in real life?

Check transfers, check-in windows, fatigue after flights, meal timing and the consequences of a late arrival.

Check: A realistic plan includes recovery time and does not depend on everything running perfectly.

03

Does the accommodation fit how you will use it?

Check room location, noise exposure, accessibility, bed layout, on-site facilities and distance to what you will actually do.

Check: Room category and star rating alone do not establish personal suitability.

04

Will the promised experience exist on your dates?

Verify seasonal opening times, staffing, spa/restaurant availability, renovation notices and child-access policies with the provider.

Check: Marketing photos can show an experience that is unavailable during your stay.

05

What is the true value of each option?

Compare all-in costs, cancellation conditions, transfers, inclusions and the specific benefit of paid upgrades.

Check: Cheaper is not automatically better; higher-priced is not automatically better either.

06

What could go wrong—and what is the fallback?

Identify one or two material failure points: connection time, accessibility, weather exposure, medical logistics or non-refundable spend.

Check: Consider consequences and reasonable alternatives rather than treating every uncertainty equally.

07

Can the whole journey be comfortably sustained?

Walk through an ordinary day from wake-up to return. Is there enough unstructured time for the group’s real energy and interests?

Check: A journey that works only at maximum pace may be poorly fitted even when every element is attractive.
